On the 25th October, two of our crews entered the Head Race run by our parent club, Gloucester Rowing Club. It was a great day for racing, with a slight chill in the air, but being local we knew the race course well and were prepared.
The men’s 4+ raced in the morning short course (1750m) division setting a new PB for the crew over the distance with a time of 6:34.2 which pushed them just ahead of the Gloucester Crew in the same category who finished a close 6:39.5. This was the mens first win of the year with hopefully more to follow over the coming months.
The women’s 4x- was in a tough category with three other strong boats from the likes of UWE and Gloucester. Although the girls put in a great effort, their time was beaten by the other crews, but they finished in a respectful time of 7:24.3.
We would like to thank Gloucester Rowing Club for holding such a successful event and use of the boats, we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. Also thank you to members from Athletics and Women’s Volleyball for coming canal side to support, and all of the tweets we received from the rest of #TeamGlos throughout the day.
Onto the next race.
