For the first time since 2011, UOG Rowing entered in to BUCS Regatta in Nottingham.
Our members practiced in singles over the term time and came back to Gloucester in the Easter holidays, so our coach, Matt Phillips, could train them up. After focused training, we entered 4 rowers to each race in a 1x.
BUCS weekend fell on May bank holiday, with our races taking place over 2 days from 4th-5th May. As a club we entered in to 4 separate races and got the following results:
Women’s Beginner 1x (Silver), Women’s Intermediate Open 1st C Final (13/41), Men’s Intermediate Light Weight 3rd C Final (15/35) and Men’s Intermediate Light Weight E Final.
We were incredibly happy with the successes from the bank holiday weekend including a silver medal and, more importantly, no capsizes! After 8 years of not entering BUCS Regatta, getting to Nottingham was exciting in itself, so to come away with great results was a bonus.
