UOG and UOW join forces for Henley Womens Regatta

Racing in HWR this year were some of the best female crews from around the world and in the mix of international talent came our Club Captain, Jade Colton.

Jade, rowing with three others from Worcester University Rowing Club, qualified for the first round of Henley Women’s Regatta in the Aspirational Quadruple sculls category. On 22nd June they entered the water in a 4x, after less than a week of training together.

Jade said:

“After just 5 days as a crew our aim was just to go out and row to the best of our ability. The fact that we qualified, to be in the mix with the fastest 16 crews was amazing! It was just incredible to race the Henley course and experience the atmosphere.”

Sadly for them, the Dutch crew were very quick and even though they stuck with them until the half way point, they were eventually overtaken. Although not a success in the race, as a club we’re proud of our CC for getting in to Henley Womens and mark that as a success in itself!
